FAQ

Are the prices real?

Yes. Every price is built from completed sales on Courtyard, the marketplace that holds around 400,000 graded cards as NFTs on Polygon. Nothing is simulated. You can check any price against Courtyard or OpenSea yourself.

Why is a market a card and not a specific slab?

A single graded slab sells about once every eleven days. That is far too rare to price a market against. But Courtyard holds many copies of the same card at the same grade, and together they sell many times a day — the busiest clears 84 sales daily. So a market is “this card at this grade”, which is also what collectors mean when they quote a card’s price.

Why can't I bet on a 5-minute round for most cards?

Because it would be fake. A round can only be decided by real trades if real trades happen inside it. A card selling three times a day has a genuine daily price and nothing shorter, so shorter rounds are hidden rather than invented. If you want fast rounds, the category indices pool every sale in a category and move every few minutes.

Why can't I sell before the round ends?

There is nothing to sell to. Money sits in one pool per side rather than in tradable shares, so there is no order book and no counterparty to buy you out. Offering an exit would require liquidity the platform does not have, so it is not offered.

How is my payout calculated?

Both pools are added together, the fee is taken, and the rest is split among the winning side in proportion to what each person staked. If you hold a tenth of the winning pool you receive a tenth of the total. Because it depends on the final pools, the number shown while betting is a live estimate, not a promise.

What if the price ends exactly where it started?

Everyone is refunded in full and no fee is charged. The same happens if nobody took the other side — with an empty pool there is nothing to win, so the round refunds instead of pretending someone lost.

Do I have to claim my winnings?

No. When a round settles, ETH is sent to the winners in the same transaction. If your wallet rejects a direct transfer — some contracts do — your winnings are credited and you can withdraw them at any time.

What if the settlement service goes down?

Your money cannot be trapped. Twenty-four hours after a round expires, anyone at all can force it to refund every bettor, and no fee is taken. That is enforced by the contract, not by a promise.

What is the fee?

2% of the total pool, taken only from rounds that produce a winner. Draws and refunds are free. The fee is capped in the contract at 5% and cannot be raised past it.

Can the operator take my money?

No. Withdrawals by the owner come out of accumulated fees only, and that balance can only grow by the cut taken on a settled round. Staked funds are never withdrawable by anyone except the bettors they belong to.
